Calcareous Building Stone Price in Belgium (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average calcareous building stone export price amounted to $607 per ton, rising by 3.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 130% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $756 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for China.
From September 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Netherlands amounted to +28.6% per month.
Calcareous Building Stone Price in Belgium (CIF) - 2022
The average calcareous building stone import price stood at $225 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -25.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $302 per ton in 2021, and then fell significantly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($1,350 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($39 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+18.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 20%.
