In 2022, the average butanol import price amounted to $1,524 per ton, stabilizing at the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 102%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,824 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Romania ($1,918 per ton) and China ($1,681 per ton), while the price for Russia ($1,354 per ton) and Slovakia ($1,454 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average butanol export price amounted to $2,055 per ton, picking up by 67% against the previous year. In general, the export price enjoyed a noticeable increase. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($8,792 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($1,807 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
