Butan-1-Ol (N-Butyl Alcohol) Price in Norway (CIF) - 2023

The average butan-1-ol (n-butyl alcohol) import price stood at $1,162 per ton in September 2023, with a decrease of -6.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a pronounced decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2022 an increase of 6.1% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,786 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,295 per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($1,068 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (-2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Butan-1-Ol (N-Butyl Alcohol) Price in Norway (FOB) - 2022

The average butan-1-ol (n-butyl alcohol) export price stood at $1,671 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -52.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 73% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3,551 per ton, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the Netherlands.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Denmark amounted to +3.9% per year.

Butan-1-Ol (N-Butyl Alcohol) Imports in Norway

In 2022, purchases abroad of butan-1-ol (n-butyl alcohol) decreased by -28.4% to 3.9K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +10.1% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 53%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 5.5K tons, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, butan-1-ol (n-butyl alcohol) imports shrank modestly to $7M in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 150% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $7.3M, and then shrank slightly in the following year.
