Broken Rice Price in the Philippines (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average broken rice import price amounted to $570 per ton, increasing by 9.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price enjoyed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 42%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Vietnam ($570 per ton) and India ($570 per ton), while the price for Pakistan ($570 per ton) and Myanmar ($570 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Broken Rice Price in the Philippines (FOB) - 2022

The average broken rice export price stood at $751 per ton in 2022, growing by 108% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw mild growth. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,208 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($5,062 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($263 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Broken Rice Imports in the Philippines

In 2022, supplies from abroad of broken rice decreased by -3.9% to 57K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 527%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 81K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, broken rice imports rose notably to $33M in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 787% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $36M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, approx. 3.1 tons of broken rice were exported from the Philippines; waning by -65.2% on 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 237% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 8.8 tons, and then declined markedly in the following year.

In value terms, broken rice exports shrank sharply to $2.3K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a measured expansion.
