Broken Rice Price in Nigeria (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average broken rice import price amounted to $759 per ton, with an increase of 6.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a modest expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 149%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,197 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($967 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($766 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+31.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Broken Rice Price in Nigeria (FOB) - 2022

The average broken rice export price stood at $798 per ton in 2022, reducing by -23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 281%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,379 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($1,057 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa ($229 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Gambia (+30.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Broken Rice Imports in Nigeria

In 2022, the amount of broken rice imported into Nigeria rose remarkably to 197 tons, picking up by 6% against the year before. Overall, imports enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 115%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 232 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, broken rice imports expanded remarkably to $150K in 2022. In general, total imports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +23.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -10.0% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 111% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $166K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
