Bovine Animals; Live Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023

In September 2023, the average bovine animals; live import price amounted to $1,348 per unit, waning by -4.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a slight reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 17% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,825 per unit; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($2,891 per unit), while the price for Brazil ($1,108 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average bovine animals; live export price stood at $3,000 per unit in April 2023, almost unchanged from the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a measured expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 558% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3,338 per unit; afterwards, it flattened through to April 2023.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Azerbaijan.

From May 2022 to April 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Azerbaijan amounted to +3.1% per month.

For the third year in a row, Turkey recorded decline in supplies from abroad of bovine animals; lives, which decreased by -55.3% to 117K units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a significant decline. The smallest decline of -34.8% was in 2021. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 689K units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, bovine animals; live imports shrank remarkably to $158M in 2022. In general, imports saw a dramatic downturn. The smallest decline of -30.4% was in 2021. Imports peaked at $672M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
