Borates Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
The average borates export price stood at $781 per ton in September 2023, declining by -7% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 50% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $839 per ton in August 2023, and then declined in the following month.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Japan ($958 per ton) and Mexico ($912 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($700 per ton) and Canada ($744 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Borates Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average borates import price amounted to $665 per ton, falling by -38.2% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 87% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,125 per ton. From July 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($4,534 per ton), while the price for Bolivia ($523 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Borates Exports in the United States
In 2022, exports of borates from the United States reduced modestly to 918K tons, remaining constant against the previous year. In general, exports saw a mild downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 4.4% against the previous year.
In value terms, borates exports surged to $611M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +9.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Borates Imports in the United States
