Borates Price in Sri Lanka (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average borates import price amounted to $745 per ton, increasing by 13% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 23% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,025 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($2,367 per ton), while the price for the United States ($578 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average borates export price stood at $551 per ton in 2022, which is down by -13.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 34%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,424 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($1,202 per ton), while the average price for exports to Maldives amounted to $226 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (-4.4%).

Borates Imports in Sri Lanka

In 2022, borates imports into Sri Lanka fell markedly to 879 tons, with a decrease of -18.5% on 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 36% against the previous year.

In value terms, borates imports fell to $655K in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 38%.
