Biodiesel Price in Austria (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average biodiesel export price amounted to $1,389 per ton, standing approximately at the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 2.6% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,131 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Switzerland ($1,606 per ton) and Germany ($1,476 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($1,317 per ton) and Italy ($1,388 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (-2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Biodiesel Price in Austria (CIF) - 2023
The average biodiesel import price stood at $1,354 per ton in June 2023, which is down by -4% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 11% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,859 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($1,554 per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($1,012 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (-1.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Biodiesel Exports in Austria
After two years of decline, overseas shipments of biodiesel increased by 1.9% to 274K tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a pronounced shrinkage.
In value terms, biodiesel exports surged to $597M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 35% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Biodiesel Imports in Austria
