The average bigeye tuna import price stood at $1,720 per ton in December 2022, with a decrease of -3.3% against the previous month. Over the period from December 2021 to December 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2022 an increase of 14% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,022 per ton. From July 2022 to December 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices from Seychelles ($1,815 per ton) and Ghana ($1,807 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($1,704 per ton) and France ($1,729 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
