Beet-Pulp and Bagasse Price in Ireland (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average beet-pulp and bagasse import price amounted to $335 per ton, which is down by -10.7% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a mild expansion from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, beet-pulp and bagasse import price decreased by -32.0% against April 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 an increase of 53% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $492 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from the UK ($433 per ton) and the United States ($343 per ton), while the price for Latvia ($301 per ton) and Germany ($326 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Beet-Pulp and Bagasse Price in Ireland (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average beet-pulp and bagasse export price amounted to $388 per ton, dropping by -3.5% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 24% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $402 per ton in June 2023, and then dropped modestly in the following month.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the UK.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the UK amounted to +2.4% per month.
Beet-Pulp and Bagasse Imports in Ireland
In 2022, supplies from abroad of beet-pulp and bagasse decreased by 0% to 234K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 257K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, beet-pulp and bagasse imports amounted to $76M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
