Baby Food Price in Russia (CIF) - 2022

The average baby food import price stood at $6,598 per ton in January 2022, shrinking by -8.2% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2021 when the average import price increased by 15% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $7,187 per ton, and then contracted in the following month.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($12,581 per ton), while the price for Belarus ($3,243 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Serbia (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Baby Food Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022

In January 2022, the average baby food export price amounted to $6,136 per ton, increasing by 11% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2021 an increase of 16% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $6,197 per ton. From March 2021 to January 2022, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belarus ($7,592 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kyrgyzstan ($4,216 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Baby Food Imports in Russia

For the third year in a row, Russia recorded decline in purchases abroad of food preparations for infants, which decreased by -20.7% to 21K tons in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The smallest decline of -12.6% was in 2020.

In value terms, baby food imports rose significantly to $170M in 2022. Overall, imports saw a drastic downturn.

Baby Food Exports in Russia

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of food preparations for infants, when their volume decreased by -10.9% to 23K tons. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 36% against the previous year.

In value terms, baby food exports reduced markedly to $109M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 27% against the previous year.
