Beer Price in Greece (FOB) - 2023
The average beer export price stood at $845 per thousand litres in July 2023, declining by -3.4% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated pronounced growth from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.6% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, beer export price decreased by -5.7% against May 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 28% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $941 per thousand litres in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($1.5 per litre), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($645 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+12.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Beer Price in Greece (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average beer import price amounted to $1.3 per litre, surging by 3.9% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 21% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in July 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($2.2 per litre), while the price for Bulgaria ($617 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Serbia (+9.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Beer Exports in Greece
In 2022, the amount of beer exported from Greece expanded markedly to 80M litres, growing by 6.9% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +19.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +70.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 28%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, beer exports shrank slightly to $48M in 2022. Overall, exports enjoyed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 54% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $49M, and then contracted modestly in the following year.

Beer Imports in Greece
In 2022, approx. 27M litres of beer were imported into Greece; rising by 3.3% compared with the previous year. In general, imports, however, saw a abrupt slump. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at 34M litres in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, beer imports expanded slightly to $30M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $35M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
