Beer Price in Uganda (CIF) - 2022

The average beer import price stood at $0.6 per litre in 2022, falling by -15.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 46% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $0.7 per litre, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the United Arab Emirates.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Lithuania amounted to +7.1% per year.

Beer Price in Uganda (FOB) - 2022

The average beer export price stood at $0.4 per litre in 2022, with an increase of 2.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 40%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $0.6 per litre. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($1.3 per litre), while the average price for exports to Democratic Republic of the Congo ($0.3 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tanzania (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Beer Imports in Uganda

In 2022, supplies from abroad of beer decreased by -1.7% to 22M litres for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 5.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 22M litres in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, beer imports reduced sharply to $13M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +26.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $16M, and then fell markedly in the following year.

Beer Exports in Uganda

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of beer decreased by -6.4% to 1.1M litres in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 15%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at 1.1M litres in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, beer exports declined modestly to $438K in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 9.8% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $458K, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
