Baking Soda Price in Norway (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average baking soda import price amounted to $558 per ton, shrinking by -5.3% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 19% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $787 per ton. From March 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($879 per ton), while the price for China ($327 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Baking Soda Price in Norway (FOB) - 2022
The average baking soda export price stood at $364 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 863% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $8,937 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($804 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden stood at $240 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+4.7%).
Baking Soda Imports in Norway
In 2022, overseas purchases of baking soda increased by 16% to 10K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a noticeable descent.
In value terms, baking soda imports soared to $5.7M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
