Asbestos Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022

The average asbestos export price stood at $356 per ton in January 2022, growing by 4.2% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2021 when the average export price increased by 19% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $379 per ton. From December 2021 to January 2022, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Thailand ($600 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($216 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Asbestos Exports in Russia

In 2022, approx. 601K tons of asbestoses were exported from Russia; remaining stable against the year before. In general, exports saw a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 2.1% against the previous year.

In value terms, asbestos exports fell to $180M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a slight contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 6.4%.
