The average artificial graphite export price stood at $482 per ton in January 2022, reducing by -1.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2021 when the average export price increased by 21% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $568 per ton in June 2021; however, from July 2021 to January 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was Japan ($665 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($153 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
