Aluminium Wire Price in Morocco (CIF) - 2022
The average aluminium wire import price stood at $2,933 per ton in December 2022, remaining stable against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 when the average import price increased by 14% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,768 per ton. From June 2022 to December 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the countries with the highest prices were Turkey ($3,259 per ton) and Egypt ($3,018 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($2,832 per ton) and Bahrain ($2,919 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average aluminium wire export price amounted to $2,997 per ton, shrinking by -15.2% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, aluminium wire export price increased by +31.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 70% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $4,079 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($8,938 per ton), while the average price for exports to Mauritania ($1,221 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cote d'Ivoire (+18.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Aluminium Wire Imports in Morocco
In 2022, overseas purchases of aluminium wires decreased by -3.5% to 30K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 5.6% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 33K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, aluminium wire imports contracted to $84M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $92M, and then dropped in the following year.
