Aluminium Wire Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average aluminium wire import price amounted to $3,673 per ton, standing approximately at the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 an increase of 6.3% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,804 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($4,602 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($2,800 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Aluminium Wire Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023

The average aluminium wire export price stood at $4,938 per ton in July 2023, rising by 4.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 an increase of 21% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $6,894 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Hungary ($8,265 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($1,383 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tunisia (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Aluminium Wire Imports in Germany

After two years of decline, purchases abroad of aluminium wires increased by 3.5% to 86K tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a pronounced reduction.

In value terms, aluminium wire imports fell to $242M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 25% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $269M, and then fell in the following year.

In 2022, shipments abroad of aluminium wires was finally on the rise to reach 14K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep contraction.

In value terms, aluminium wire exports shrank to $65M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 12%.
