The average insulated coaxial cable import price stood at $2,079 per ton in 2022, reducing by -10.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 144%. The import price peaked at $5,100 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($12,102 per ton), while the price for China stood at $3,996 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Insulated Coaxial Cable Price in South Africa (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average insulated coaxial cable export price amounted to $7,621 per ton, increasing by 15% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 an increase of 20% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $8,511 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Zambia ($11,087 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lesotho ($3,900 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Zimbabwe (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Insulated Coaxial Cable Imports in South Africa
Insulated coaxial cable imports into South Africa stood at 8.2K tons in 2022, growing by 3.5% on 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 17K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, insulated coaxial cable imports dropped to $17M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 16%.
