Alkali Metals; Sodium Price in the Czech Republic (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average alkali metals; sodium import price amounted to $3,585 per ton, with a decrease of -11.8% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, alkali metals; sodium import price increased by +55.7% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average import price increased by 35% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $4,063 per ton in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($3,882 per ton), while the price for France ($3,534 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 49%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $45,800 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Hungary.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Hungary amounted to +1.5% per year.

In 2022, imports of alkali metals; sodia into the Czech Republic skyrocketed to 558 tons, jumping by 27% against 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.8% over the last three years.
