Moreover, the Netherlands emerged as the fastest growing importer/exporter in the world, with a CAGR of +2.0% from 2007;2016. Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Portugal (;1.0%), the UK (;3.9%), the U.S. (;4.0%), France (;4.5%), Italy (;5.0%), and China, Hong Kong SAR (;8.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2007 to 2016, the share of the U.S., China, Hong Kong SAR, Italy, and the UK increased by 5%, 2%, 2%, and 2% percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the U.S. ($12B) constitutes the largest market for imported rubber, plastic or leather Footwear worldwide, making up 23% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Germany ($4.3B), with the share of 8% of global imports. It was followed by France, with the share of 7%.

In the U.S., rubber, plastic or leather Footwear imports declined by an average annual rate of ;0.7% over the period from 2007;2016. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates: Germany (+1.2% per year) and France (+0.3% per year).

The U.S. (341K tonnes) occupied the second position in the ranking, followed by Viet Nam (176K tonnes). All these countries together took near 17% share of total imports. The UK (122K tonnes), Germany (121K tonnes), Japan (110K tonnes), France (87K tonnes), Indonesia (85K tonnes), Belgium (76K tonnes), Spain (59K tonnes), and Italy (53K tonnes) held the slight share of total imports.

At the same time, the U.S. (+26.1%), Belgium (+11.3%), France (+10.6%), Germany (+8.8%), Spain (+8.2%), the UK (+7.2%), Japan (+3.0%), and Indonesia (+1.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the U.S. emerged as the fastest growing importer/exporter in the world, with a CAGR of +26.1% from 2007-2016. Viet Nam experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Italy (-3.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Belgium (-1.5%), China (-1.6%), France (-1.7%), the UK (-1.8%), Germany (-2.1%), and the U.S. (-9.6%) decreased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
