Which Country Exports the Most Vacuum Cleaners in the World?

In 2016, the global exports of vacuum cleaner amounted to 809K tonnes, ascending by 28% against the previous year figure. Overall, it indicated a pronounced expansion from 2007 to 2016: the total exports volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010, when it surged by 68% year-to-year. Global vacuum cleaner export peaked of 870K tonnes in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

In value terms, vacuum cleaner exports amounted to $8.6B in 2016. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2007 to 2016; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Global vacuum cleaner export peaked of $8.9B in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

Vacuum Cleaner Exports By Country

China (387K tonnes) represented the key exporting country with an export of about 387K tonnes, which finished at 48% of total exports. Malaysia (87K tonnes) ranks second globally in vacuum cleaner exports with a 11% share, following Germany (10%). Hungary (31K tonnes), the U.S. (29K tonnes), Mexico (24K tonnes), the Netherlands (17K tonnes), Viet Nam (15K tonnes), Belgium (15K tonnes), and Romania (13K tonnes) followed a long way behind this figure.

Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% from 2007 to 2016. At the same time, the Netherlands (+47.2%), Romania (+14.8%), Belgium (+10.3%), Hungary (+4.8%), Malaysia (+4.4%), and Germany (+3.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Netherlands emerged as the fastest growing importer/exporter in the world, with a CAGR of +47.2% from 2007-2016. By contrast, the U.S. (-1.9%), Mexico (-5.5%), and Viet Nam (-8.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Viet Nam (2%), and Mexico (2%) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while the Netherlands, Germany, Malaysia, and China saw its share reduced by -2.0%, -2.7%, -3.4%, and -24.6% from 2007 to 2016, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($3.7B) remains the largest vacuum cleaner supplier in the world, making up 43% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Germany ($1.2B), with the share of 14% of global exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with the share of 10%.

In China, vacuum cleaner exports expanded at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the period from 2007-2016. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates: Germany (+3.4% per year) and Malaysia (+0.3% per year).

Vacuum Cleaner Export Prices By Country

The average vacuum cleaner export price stood at $11 per kg in 2016, shrinking by -22.6% against the previous year. In general, vacuum cleaner export price continues to indicate a slight slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014, an increase of 38% against the previous year level. Global vacuum cleaner export peaked of $14 per kg in 2015, falling back in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average export prices amongst major exporting countries. In 2016, the country with the highest export prices was Germany ($15 per kg), while Romania ($4,349 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of vacuum cleaner export prices was attained by Viet Nam (+17.3% per year), while the other global leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
