Generator Imports By Country

In 2016, China (600K tonnes), distantly followed by Germany (323K tonnes), Denmark (279K tonnes), the UK (240K tonnes), Spain (228K tonnes), the U.S. (223K tonnes), and the Netherlands (184K tonnes) were the key importers of generator, together committing 53% of total imports. The following importers - Angola (146K tonnes), Japan (137K tonnes), Turkey (129K tonnes), Italy (65K tonnes), and Singapore (63K tonnes) together made up 14% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of generator imports, among the main importing countries, was attained by the Netherlands (+21.2% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest generator markets worldwide were Turkey ($1.5B), the U.S. ($1B) and China ($753M), together comprising 15% of global imports.

Turkey (+19.9% per year) recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the generator imports, among the main importing countries, over the last 9 years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Generator Import Prices By Country

The average generator import price stood at $5,519 per tonne in 2016, falling by -3.1% against the previous year. Overall, generator import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008, an increase of 23% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, average generator import price attained its maximum level of $7,602 per tonne in 2011- however, from 2012 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

Import prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest import prices was Turkey ($11 per kg), while Denmark ($149 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of generator import prices was attained by Singapore (+4.2% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
