U.S. Automatic Circuit Breaker Imports by Country
In 2020, the amount of automatic circuit breakers imported into the U.S. declined slightly to 43K tons, waning by -3.3% on 2019. In value terms, supplies shrank slightly to $1.6B (IndexBox estimates).
Mexico (16K tons), the Dominican Republic (16K tons) and Italy (1.7K tons) were the main suppliers of circuit breakers to the U.S., together accounting for 79% of total imports. Germany, China, Switzerland, France and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 12%.
In value terms, the largest circuit breaker suppliers to the U.S. were Mexico ($611M), the Dominican Republic ($606M) and Italy ($60M), together accounting for 80% of total supplies. China, Germany, Switzerland, France and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 11%.
The average circuit breaker import price stood at $36,805 per ton in 2020, rising by 1.9% against the previous year. Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the countries with the highest prices were the Czech Republic ($37,888 per ton) and the Dominican Republic ($37,875 per ton), while the price for Germany ($31,483 per ton) and China ($33,760 per ton) were amongst the lowest. In 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
