Turkey Titanium Dioxide Pigments Import Price in July 2023
In July 2023, the titanium dioxide pigments price amounted to $3,031 per ton (CIF, Turkey), picking up by 3.1% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 4.6% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $3,652 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($4,050 per ton), while the price for China ($2,484 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+0.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Turkey Titanium Dioxide Pigments Import Prices by Type
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplied products. In July 2023, the product with the highest price was pigments and preparations based on titanium dioxide (excluding those containing more than 80 % by weight of titanium dioxide) ($3,165 per ton), while the price for pigments and preparations based on titanium dioxide containing more than 80 % by weight of titanium dioxide amounted to $3,013 per ton.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by titanium dioxide pigments (excluding those containing more than 80 % by weight of titanium dioxide) (-1.5%).
Turkey Titanium Dioxide Pigments Imports
In July 2023, the amount of titanium dioxide pigments and colouring preparations imported into Turkey amounted to 16K tons, picking up by 13% against June 2023 figures. In general, total imports indicated a measured expansion from July 2022 to July 2023: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, imports decreased by -24.8% against May 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 with an increase of 41% m-o-m.
In value terms, titanium dioxide pigments imports skyrocketed to $47M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2023. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 with an increase of 39% against the previous month. As a result, imports reached the peak of $60M. From June 2023 to July 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Turkey Titanium Dioxide Pigments Imports by Type
In July 2023, pigments and preparations based on titanium dioxide containing more than 80 % by weight of titanium dioxide (14K tons) constituted the largest type of titanium dioxide pigments supplied to Turkey, accounting for a 88% share of total imports. Moreover, pigments and preparations based on titanium dioxide containing more than 80 % by weight of titanium dioxide exceeded the figures recorded for the second-largest type, pigments and preparations based on titanium dioxide (excluding those containing more than 80 % by weight of titanium dioxide) (1.9K tons), sevenfold.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of import of pigments and preparations based on titanium dioxide containing more than 80 % by weight of titanium dioxide totaled +2.2%.
In value terms, pigments and preparations based on titanium dioxide containing more than 80 % by weight of titanium dioxide ($41M) constituted the largest type of titanium dioxide pigments supplied to Turkey, comprising 87% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by pigments and preparations based on titanium dioxide (excluding those containing more than 80 % by weight of titanium dioxide) ($6M), with a 13% share of total imports.
Turkey Titanium Dioxide Pigments Imports by Country
In July 2023, China (6.1K tons) constituted the largest supplier of titanium dioxide pigments to Turkey, accounting for a 40% share of total imports. Moreover, titanium dioxide pigments imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Mexico (2.6K tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Germany (1.3K tons), with an 8.1% share.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the average monthly growth rate of volume from China amounted to +3.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Mexico (+3.8% per month) and Germany (+2.4% per month).
In value terms, the largest titanium dioxide pigments suppliers to Turkey were China ($15M), Mexico ($8.5M) and Germany ($4.7M), with a combined 60% share of total imports. the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Slovenia and India lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.
Among the main suppliers, India, with a CAGR of +28.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
