Over the period from Jan 2022 to May 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in Mar 2022 when the average import price increased by 18% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $11,561 per ton in Apr 2022; however, from May 2022 to May 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2022, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($10,942 per ton), while the price for Chile ($8,763 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From Jan 2022 to May 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Australia (8.4K tons), New Zealand (4.5K tons) and Chile (226 tons) were the main suppliers of lamb and sheep meat imports to the United States, with a combined 99% share of total imports.
From Jan 2022 to May 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Chile (with a CAGR of +28.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, Australia ($83M), New Zealand ($49M) and Chile ($2M) were the largest lamb and sheep meat suppliers to the United States, together comprising 99% of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, Chile, with a CAGR of +22.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
