Ceramic Sanitary Ware Price in Hong Kong Skyrocket to $59.0 per Unit
Hong Kong Ceramic Sanitary Ware Import Price in January 2023
In January 2023, the ceramic sanitary ware price amounted to $59.0 per unit (CIF, Hong Kong), picking up by 47% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2022 an increase of 52% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $81.6 per unit in February 2022; however, from March 2022 to January 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($173 per unit), while the price for Turkey ($31.7 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+6.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Hong Kong Ceramic Sanitary Ware Import Prices by Type
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplied products. In January 2023, the product with the highest price was ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures of porcelain or china ($66.7 per unit), while the price for ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures other than of porcelain or china totaled $55.2 per unit.
From February 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures of porcelain or china (-1.7%).
Hong Kong Ceramic Sanitary Ware Imports
After two months of growth, supplies from abroad of ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures decreased by -26.8% to 58K units in January 2023. In general, imports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 when imports increased by 103% m-o-m. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 95K units in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to January 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, ceramic sanitary ware imports rose significantly to $3.4M (IndexBox estimates) in January 2023. Overall, total imports indicated prominent growth from February 2022 to January 2023: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +5.3% over the last eleven months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on January 2023 figures, imports increased by +14.1% against October 2022 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2022 when imports increased by 65% month-to-month. As a result, imports attained the peak of $4.3M. From May 2022 to January 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Hong Kong Ceramic Sanitary Ware Imports by Type
In January 2023, ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures other than of porcelain or china (39K units) constituted the largest type of ceramic sanitary ware supplied to Hong Kong, accounting for a 67% share of total imports. Moreover, ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures other than of porcelain or china exceeded the figures recorded for the second-largest type, ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures of porcelain or china (19K units), twofold.
From February 2022 to January 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of import of ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures other than of porcelain or china stood at +15.8%.
In value terms, the most traded types of ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures in Hong Kong were ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures other than of porcelain or china ($2.2M) and ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures of porcelain or china ($1.3M).
Hong Kong Ceramic Sanitary Ware Imports by Country
In January 2023, China (43K units) constituted the largest ceramic sanitary ware supplier to Hong Kong, with a 73% share of total imports. Moreover, ceramic sanitary ware imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Thailand (4.9K units), ninefold. Indonesia (2.3K units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.9% share.
From February 2022 to January 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +18.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Thailand (+3.6% per month) and Indonesia (+5.7% per month).
In value terms, China ($2.1M) constituted the largest supplier of ceramic sanitary ware to Hong Kong, comprising 61% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($268K), with a 7.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 7.7% share.
From February 2022 to January 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value from China stood at +15.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+18.1% per month) and Thailand (-1.9% per month).
