Germany's Modified Starch Price Increases 2%, Averaging $1,797 per Ton
Germany Modified Starches Export Price in November 2022
In November 2022, the modified starches price amounted to $1,797 per ton (FOB, Germany), rising by 2.2% against the previous month. Over the last ten-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 11% month-to-month. The export price peaked in November 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Spain ($2,667 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($1,063 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to November 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Morocco (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Germany Modified Starches Exports
In November 2022, overseas shipments of dextrins and other modified starches were finally on the rise to reach 25K tons for the first time since August 2022, thus ending a two-month declining trend. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 when exports increased by 17% against the previous month. The exports peaked at 28K tons in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to November 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, modified starches exports expanded rapidly to $45M (IndexBox estimates) in November 2022. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +2.1% over the period from January 2022 to November 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2022 with an increase of 20% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in November 2022.
Germany Modified Starches Exports by Country
The Netherlands (2.6K tons), Italy (1.7K tons) and the UK (1.5K tons) were the main destinations of modified starches exports from Germany, with a combined 23% share of total exports. France, South Korea, Turkey, the United States, Switzerland, Poland, Austria, Morocco, Belgium and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 42%.
From January 2022 to November 2022, the biggest increases were in the United States (with a CAGR of +8.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for modified starches exported from Germany were the Netherlands ($4.9M), France ($3M) and Italy ($2.9M), together accounting for 24% of total exports. These countries were followed by the UK, Poland, Switzerland, Spain, Turkey, Morocco, the United States, Austria, South Korea and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 39%.
Morocco, with a CAGR of +12.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
