Imports into the U.S.
Imports of fans, blowers and air purification equipment into the U.S. amounted to 200M units in 2018, picking up by 14% against the previous year. Overall, the total imports indicated a remarkable expansion from 2013 to 2018: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% over the last five-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, imports of fans, blowers and air purification equipment totaled $3.1B (IndexBox estimates) in 2018. Based on 2018 figures, imports of fans, blowers and air purification equipment rose 80.8% against 2013 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 23% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2018 and are expected to retain its growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2018, China (113M units) constituted the largest fan, blower and air purification equipment supplier to the U.S., with a 56% share of total imports. Moreover, imports of fans, blowers and air purification equipment (industrial and commercial) from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Mexico (16M units), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Germany (8.1M units), with a 4% share.
From 2013 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +11.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Mexico (+8.2% per year) and Germany (+4.8% per year).
In value terms, China ($1.1B) constituted the largest supplier of fan, blower and air purification equipment to the U.S., comprising 35% of total imports of fans, blowers and air purification equipment (industrial and commercial). The second position in the ranking was occupied by Mexico ($469M), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 12% share.
Import Prices by Country
In 2018, the average import price for fans, blowers and air purification equipment (industrial and commercial) amounted to $15 per unit, rising by 2.9% against the previous year.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Germany ($45 per unit), while the price for Thailand ($6.4 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
