Dried Grapes Price in Canada Plummets 10% to $2,347 per Ton

Canada Dried Grapes Import Price in November 2022

In November 2022, the dried grapes price amounted to $2,347 per ton (CIF, Canada), waning by -9.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2022 an increase of 29% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,484 per ton. From October 2022 to November 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($3,349 per ton), while the price for Greece ($2,020 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to November 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Canada Dried Grapes Imports

In November 2022, approximately 2K tons of dried grapes were imported into Canada; rising by 45% compared with the previous month. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a slight contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2022 when imports increased by 140% m-o-m. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at 2.5K tons in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to November 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, dried grapes imports skyrocketed to $4.7M (IndexBox estimates) in November 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 when imports increased by 188% m-o-m. Imports peaked at 7.1K tons in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to November 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Canada Dried Grapes Imports by Country

the United States (551 tons), South Africa (389 tons) and Greece (61 tons) were the main suppliers of dried grapes imports to Canada, with a combined 50% share of total imports.

From January 2022 to November 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Greece (with a CAGR of +91.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, the United States ($1.8M) constituted the largest supplier of dried grapes to Canada, comprising 39% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Africa ($859K), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Greece, with a 2.6% share.

From January 2022 to November 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from the United States stood at -5.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: South Africa (+0.3% per month) and Greece (+74.3% per month).
