The average import areca nut price per ton stood at $9,633 in Apr 2022, which is down by -25% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in Mar 2022 an increase of 70% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $12,844 per ton, and then contracted significantly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was India ($13,391 per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($1,189 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From Jan 2022 to Apr 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bangladesh (+45.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in Mar 2022 when imports increased by 72% month-to-month. As a result, imports attained the peak of $758K, and then shrank dramatically in the following month.
U.S. Areca Nut Imports by Country
In Apr 2022, India (25 tons) constituted the largest areca nut supplier to the United States, with a 68% share of total imports. Moreover, areca nut imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Myanmar (10 tons), twofold.
From Jan 2022 to Apr 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from India stood at -3.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Myanmar (+51.6% per month) and Bangladesh (-63.2% per month).
In value terms, India ($332K) constituted the largest supplier of areca nut to the United States, comprising 94% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Myanmar ($12K), with a 3.5% share of total imports.
From Jan 2022 to Apr 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from India stood at -6.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Myanmar (+22.5% per month) and Bangladesh (-46.4% per month).
