From 2007 to 2014, EU production on the confectionery market showed mixed dynamics, finally falling from X thousand tonnes in 2007 to X thousand tonnes in 2014. It dropped with a CAGR of -X% over the period under review. In value terms, EU sugar confectionery production decreased to X million EUR in 2014, falling by -X% annually.
Germany was the largest producer of sugar confectionery in absolute volumes, with X thousand tonnes. It was distantly followed by the United Kingdom (X thousand tonnes), Spain (X thousand tonnes) and Poland (X thousand tonnes).
Positive dynamics in confectionery production among the main producing countries from 2007 to 2014 were recorded in Germany (+X% per year) and Poland (+X%), while for the other two EU leaders (the UK and Spain) the paces of growth were negative.
Germany dominated in EU confectionery production and trade. In 2014, it exported X% of its total sugar confectionery output. Of this amount, X% was supplied to the United Kingdom, where Germany's sugar confectionery held a X% share of the country's total imports.
