The U.S. ranks first in global imports on the folding paperboard box market, accounting for a X% share (based on USD). France (X%), Germany (X%), and the UK (X%) followed. In 2015, U.S. imports of folding paperboard boxes totaled X million USD, which was X million USD (X%) higher than the year before. From 2007 to 2015, U.S. folding paperboard box imports showed mixed dynamics. A slight drop in 2009 was followed by rapid recovery and further steady growth through to 2015.

With imports growing steadily, the U.S. remains one of the most attractive destinations for overseas suppliers.

China and Canada were the main suppliers of folding paperboard boxes into the U.S., with a combined X% share of total U.S. imports in 2015. China was the fastest growing supplier (+X% per year) from 2007 to 2015, while imports from Canada remained relatively stable. China significantly strengthened its position in the U.S. import structure, from X% in 2007 to X% in 2015. By contrast, Canada saw its share reduced by -X percentage points to X%.

From 2007 to 2015, the U.S. was a net importer of folding paperboard boxes. However, exports grew a bit faster than imports on average over the period under review. The U.S. trade deficit in this sector worsened over the period under review, growing from X million USD in 2007 to X million USD in 2015.
