In value terms, bauxite exports reduced markedly to $X in 2020. Overall, exports posted a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2019, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

Exports by Country

Guinea represented the largest exporter of bauxite in the world, with the volume of exports recording X tonnes, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2020. Australia (X tonnes) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Indonesia (X%). Brazil (X tonnes) and Jamaica (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Guinea, while exports for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, the average bauxite export price amounted to $X per tonne, shrinking by -X% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a noticeable setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, export price attained the peak level of $X per tonne. from 2009 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Guinea ($X per tonne), while Australia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, global imports hit record highs in 2020 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, bauxite imports shrank modestly to $X in 2020. In general, imports posted prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Global imports peaked at $X in 2019, and then shrank in the following year.

Imports by Country

China dominates bauxite imports structure, recording X tonnes, which was near X% of total imports in 2020. The following importers - Ukraine (X tonnes), Ireland (X tonnes), Spain (X tonnes), the U.S. (X tonnes), Canada (X tonnes), Germany (X tonnes) and India (X tonnes) - together made up X% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2020, average annual rates of growth with regard to bauxite imports into China stood at +X%. At the same time, India (+X%), Ireland (+X%), Ukraine (+X%), Canada (+X%) and Spain (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2020. Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. The average bauxite import price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, waning by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a mild descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per tonne. from 2009 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was India ($X per tonne), while Canada ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
