From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to canned vegetable exports from Nigeria stood at +19.7%. At the same time, Senegal (+30.9%), Burkina Faso (+17.3%) and Ghana (+8.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Senegal emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +30.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Cote d'Ivoire (-2.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Nigeria (+34 p.p.) and Senegal (+17 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Cote d'Ivoire (-6.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest canned vegetable supplying countries in Western Africa were Nigeria ($X), Ghana ($X) and Senegal ($X), with a combined 86% share of total exports. Cote d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 12%.

Among the main exporting countries, Burkina Faso, with a CAGR of +26.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the export price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, falling by -10.1% against the previous year. Export price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, canned vegetable export price increased by +47.2% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 24% against the previous year.
