Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Spain (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of shelled hazelnut to Venezuela, accounting for a 88% share of total imports. Moreover, shelled hazelnut imports from Spain exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Chile (X tons), tenfold. The United States (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 2.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Spain totaled -19.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Chile (+28.8% per year) and the United States (-33.4% per year).
In value terms, Spain ($X) constituted the largest supplier of shelled hazelnut to Venezuela, comprising 88% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 9.9% share of total imports. It was followed by the United States, with a 1.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Spain amounted to -19.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Chile (+26.4% per year) and the United States (-34.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average shelled hazelnut import price amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -2.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 38% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the price for the United States ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
