Moreover, hardwood veneer and plywood exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Mexico (X cubic meters), threefold. After four years of decline, purchases abroad of hardwood veneer and plywood increased by X% to X cubic meters in 2021. In general, imports posted a moderate expansion. Imports peaked at X cubic meters in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, hardwood veneer and plywood imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a tangible expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Vietnam (X cubic meters), Russia (X cubic meters) and Indonesia (X cubic meters) were the main suppliers of hardwood veneer and plywood imports to the United States, together comprising X% of total imports. These countries were followed by Canada, China, Brazil and Cambodia, which together accounted for a further X 2013 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Cambodia (with a CAGR of +X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
