Binocular Market Size in Ukraine
The Ukrainian binocular market fell significantly to $X in 2021, which is down by -19.8% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a strong expansion. Binocular consumption peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports from Ukraine
After two years of growth, shipments abroad of binoculars decreased by -56% to X units in 2021. In general, exports saw a sharp decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by 266%. The exports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, binocular exports shrank markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports faced a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 1,285%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Moldova (X units) was the main destination for binocular exports from Ukraine, accounting for a 43% share of total exports. Moreover, binocular exports to Moldova exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Bulgaria (X units), with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Moldova amounted to +19.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-36.7% per year) and Bulgaria (-57.1% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for binocular exported from Ukraine were Bulgaria ($X), the United States ($X) and South Africa ($X), together accounting for 97% of total exports.
Among the main countries of destination, South Africa, with a CAGR of +171.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
Export Prices by Country
The average binocular export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, dropping by -32.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 278% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then dropped notably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Moldova ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Africa (+45.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Binocular Imports
Imports into Ukraine
In 2021, approx. X units of binoculars were imported into Ukraine; with a decrease of -17.8% compared with the previous year. In general, imports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 180%. Imports peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, binocular imports fell remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw modest growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 103% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) was the main binocular supplier to Ukraine, accounting for a 92% share of total imports. Moreover, binocular imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X units), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Poland (X units), with a 2.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +38.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+60.4% per year) and Poland (+7.0% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of binocular to Ukraine, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by the United States, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China stood at +41.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+75.0% per year) and the United States (-16.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average binocular import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, falling by -16.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 330%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the price for Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
