Glass Fibre Mat Market Size in Uganda

In 2022, the Ugandan glass fibre mat market decreased by -20.6% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports faced a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X kg in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, glass fibre mat exports declined to $X in 2022. In general, exports faced a significant decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 168%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Rwanda (X kg) was the main destination for glass fibre mat exports from Uganda, with a approx. 100% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Rwanda stood at -19.3%.

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of glass fibre mats decreased by -16.7% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 226%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, glass fibre mat imports fell significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 265%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

China (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Kenya (X tons) were the main suppliers of glass fibre mat imports to Uganda, with a combined 83% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +86.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, China ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and South Africa ($X) constituted the largest glass fibre mat suppliers to Uganda, with a combined 82% share of total imports.

The United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +94.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average glass fibre mat import price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -9.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 116%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the price for Kenya ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+59.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
