Clove Market Size in the U.S.

The U.S. clove market skyrocketed to $X in 2020, jumping by X% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Exports from the U.S.

In 2020, the amount of cloves exported from the U.S. fell modestly to X tonnes, dropping by -X% compared with the year before. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports attained the maximum at X tonnes in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, clove exports shrank to $X in 2020. In general, exports, however, posted pronounced growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Canada (X tonnes) was the main destination for clove exports from the U.S., accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, clove exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Mexico (X tonnes), more than tenfold. Trinidad and Tobago (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Canada totaled +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (+X% per year) and Trinidad and Tobago (+X% per year).

In value terms, Canada ($X) remains the key foreign market for clove exports from the U.S., comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Mexico ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Trinidad and Tobago, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Canada stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (+X% per year) and Trinidad and Tobago (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average clove export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, falling by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average export prices attained the maximum at $X per tonne in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2020, the countries with the highest prices were Mexico ($X per tonne) and Canada ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to France ($X per tonne) and Trinidad and Tobago ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

Imports into the U.S.

For the fourth year in a row, the U.S. recorded growth in overseas purchases of cloves, which increased by X% to X tonnes in 2020. In general, total imports indicated a pronounced increase from 2007 to 2020: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, imports increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Imports peaked in 2020 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Sri Lanka ($X per tonne), while the price for Brazil ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Madagascar, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
