France (X tons) was the main destination for ghee exports from Switzerland, with a 33% share of total exports. Moreover, ghee exports to France exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Indonesia (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Singapore (X tons), with a 13% share.

In value terms, France ($X) remains the key foreign market for ghee exports from Switzerland, comprising 36% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Indonesia, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to France stood at +138.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+2.9% per year) and Indonesia (+2.8% per year).

In 2021, the average ghee export price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 8.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 89% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+15.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Switzerland
In 2021, overseas purchases of ghee increased by 104% to X tons, rising for the fifth year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 151%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, ghee imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 145%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of ghee imports to Switzerland, with a combined 96% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +57.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Belgium ($X) constituted the largest ghee suppliers to Switzerland, with a combined 95% share of total imports.
The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +56.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average ghee import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 9.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average import price increased by 22% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the highest price was recorded for prices from the UK ($X per ton) and Germany ($X per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($X per ton) and France ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
