The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
India (X tons) was the main destination for berry exports from Sri Lanka, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, berry exports to India exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bahrain (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to India stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bahrain (-X% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+X% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for berry exported from Sri Lanka were India ($X), Bahrain ($X) and Maldives ($X United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average berry export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bahrain (+X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Sri Lanka
In 2021, berry imports into Sri Lanka stood at X tons, picking up by X% compared with the year before. In general, imports, however, saw a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, berry imports dropped to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Belgium (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) were the main suppliers of berry imports to Sri Lanka, together comprising X% of total imports. These countries were followed by Italy and Australia, which together accounted for a further X 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Italy (with a CAGR of +X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X), Singapore ($X) and Belgium ($X) were the largest berry suppliers to Sri Lanka, together accounting for X% of total imports.
The United States, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average berry import price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of X%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per ton), while the price for Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+X%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
