For the second year in a row, Spain recorded decline in market size of cereal flours, which decreased by -X% to $X in 2018. Over the period under review, cereal flour consumption showed a slight descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 with an increase of X% y-o-y. In that year, the cereal flour market reached its peak level of $X. From 2009 to 2018, the growth of the cereal flour market remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cereal flour production went up slightly to $X in 2018 estimated in export prices. Over the period under review, cereal flour production saw a mild drop. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with an increase of X% year-to-year. In that year, cereal flour production reached its peak level of $X. From 2009 to 2018, cereal flour production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Cereal flour exports from Spain stood at X tonnes in 2018, with a decrease of -X% against 2017 figures. In general, cereal flour exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. In that year, cereal flour exports attained their peak of X tonnes. From 2012 to 2018, the growth of cereal flour exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cereal flour exports totaled $X in 2018. Over the period under review, cereal flour exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, cereal flour exports reached their peak figure at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2018, exports failed to regain their momentum.

Exports by Country

In 2018, Turkey (X tonnes) and Kazakhstan (X tonnes) were the main exporters of cereal floursin the world, together accounting for near X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Germany (X tonnes), mixing up a X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Argentina (X tonnes), Pakistan (X tonnes), Belgium (X tonnes), Egypt (X tonnes), the U.S. (X tonnes), France (X tonnes), Uzbekistan (X tonnes), Mexico (X tonnes) and Canada (X tonnes) - together made up X% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Uzbekistan (+X% per year), while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest cereal flour supplier from Spain, comprising X% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Kazakhstan ($X), with a X% share of global exports. It was followed by Germany, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Turkey totaled +X%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+X% per year) and Germany (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2018, the cereal flour export price in Spain amounted to $X per tonne, growing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the cereal flour export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. In general, cereal flour imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of X% y-o-y. In that year, cereal flour imports reached their peak of X tonnes. From 2017 to 2018, the growth of cereal flour imports failed to regain its momentum.

In value terms, cereal flour imports contracted dramatically to $X in 2018. Overall, the total imports indicated a slight increase from 2007 to 2018: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, cereal flour imports decreased by -X% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% y-o-y. In that year, cereal flour imports attained their peak of $X. From 2017 to 2018, the growth of cereal flour imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2018, Afghanistan (X tonnes) and Iraq (X tonnes) represented the major importers of cereal floursin the world, together reaching near X% of total imports. The following importers - Uzbekistan (X tonnes), the Netherlands (X tonnes), Angola (X tonnes), the U.S. (X tonnes), Syrian Arab Republic (X tonnes), France (X tonnes), Brazil (X tonnes), Guinea (X tonnes), Bolivia (X tonnes) and Somalia (X tonnes) - together made up X% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Guinea, while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest cereal flour importing markets into Spain were Iraq ($X), Afghanistan ($X) and the U.S. ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, France, Angola, Guinea, Brazil, Syrian Arab Republic, Uzbekistan, Bolivia and Somalia, which together accounted for a further X the main importing countries, Guinea recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
