Salt Market Size in Saudi Arabia

In 2021, the Saudi salt market was finally on the rise to reach $X after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Oman (X tonnes), Kuwait (X tonnes) and Bahrain (X tonnes) were the main destinations of salt exports from Saudi Arabia, together accounting for X% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Kuwait (with a CAGR of +X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Oman ($X), Kuwait ($X) and Bahrain ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for salt exported from Saudi Arabia worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports.

Kuwait, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

Imports into Saudi Arabia

Salt imports into Saudi Arabia stood at X tonnes in 2021, picking up by X% on the year before. Overall, imports enjoyed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
