In value terms, optical fiber cables exports totaled $X in 2020. In general, exports posted buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Exports by Country

Kuwait (X tonnes) was the main destination for optical fiber cables exports from Saudi Arabia, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, optical fiber cables exports to Kuwait exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bahrain (X tonnes), more than tenfold. Oman (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Kuwait amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bahrain (+X% per year) and Oman (+X% per year).

In value terms, Kuwait ($X) remains the key foreign market for optical fiber cables exports from Saudi Arabia, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Bahrain ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value to Kuwait totaled +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bahrain (+X% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2020, the average optical fiber cables export price amounted to $X per tonne, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, export price reached the peak level of $X per tonne. From 2009 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Egypt, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, approx. X tonnes of optical fiber cables were imported into Saudi Arabia; with a decrease of -X% on 2019 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate tangible growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tonnes in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.
