Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a CAGR of +24.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in SADC stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 37% against the previous year. In general, the import price enjoyed a notable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 171% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Mozambique ($X per ton), while Botswana ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
