As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

Exports by Country

South Africa was the major exporting country with an export of around X tons, which recorded X% of total exports. Zambia (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Tanzania (X tons). All these countries together took near X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-wheat flour exports from South Africa stood at X%. At the same time, Zambia (X%) and Tanzania (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Zambia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in SADC, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. From 2012 to 2023, the share of Zambia and Tanzania increased by X and X percentage points, respectively.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-wheat flour imports skyrocketed to $X in 2023. Total imports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
