Moreover, Madagascar emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in SADC, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, South Africa (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Democratic Republic of the Congo (X p.p.), Madagascar (X p.p.) and Tanzania (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while South Africa saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Tanzania ($X), Zimbabwe ($X) and South Africa ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined X% share of total imports. Madagascar, Zambia and Democratic Republic of the Congo lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.
Among the main importing countries, Madagascar, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in SADC stood at $X per unit in 2022, growing by X% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
