Afghanistan (X tons), China (X tons), France (X tons), Jordan (X tons), Belgium (X tons), the United States (X tons), Canada (X tons) and Azerbaijan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Afghanistan (with a CAGR of +48.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest tomato supplying countries from Puerto Rico were Mexico ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Spain ($X), with a combined 54% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Morocco, France, Canada, China, Belgium, Turkey, the United States, Azerbaijan, Jordan and Afghanistan, which together accounted for a further 34%.

Afghanistan, with a CAGR of +38.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The United States was the key importing country with an import of around X tons, which accounted for 26% of total imports. Germany (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by France (X tons), Russia (X tons), Pakistan (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 33% share of total imports. The UK (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Canada (X tons), Spain (X tons), Poland (X tons), Syrian Arab Republic (X tons) and Italy (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to tomato imports into the United States stood at +2.7%. At the same time, Spain (+7.5%), Saudi Arabia (+6.1%), Pakistan (+5.6%) and Poland (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Spain emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +7.5% from 2012-2021. Germany, Syrian Arab Republic, Canada, the Netherlands, Italy and France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the UK (-1.9%) and Russia (-6.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The United States (+3.9 p.p.), Pakistan (+1.8 p.p.) and Saudi Arabia (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -5.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United States ($X), Germany ($X) and France ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 53% of total imports. These countries were followed by the UK, Russia, the Netherlands, Canada, Poland, Spain, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Syrian Arab Republic, which together accounted for a further 27%.

Spain, with a CAGR of +11.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
